Established in 1975, the Camp pour enfants diabétiques de l'Est du Québec (CEDEQ) is a non-profit organization offering exceptional camp experiences for children living with type 1 diabetes.
In a stimulating setting, CEDEQ invites young diabetics and their families to learn and deepen their knowledge about diabetes while taking advantage of support found only in the dynamics of a group.
A multidisciplinary team of health care professionals, composed of doctors, nurses and dieticians supervise the control of diabetes by means of medication, teaching, food and physical exercise.
This team is present, attentive and available 24 hours a day during the camp. Campers, ages 9 to 15 years old, are taught diabetes self-management skills in a fun, interactive and safe environment.
The family camp experience allows parents of young diabetics to help tame the disease and to better adapt to the daily reality of diabetes by acquiring information and support.
The children under the age of 9 are able to enjoy the social, recreational and educational experience of a weekend dedicated to them and their families.
In order to support our mission and activities, CEDEQ carries out a yearly fundraising campaign.
This activity allows the organization to offer quality camps to the children and families and also to insure the camp experience remains affordable for all. All the activities of our camp are organized in French.
